What Malaysia’s A-G And Najib’s Supporters Have To Say About The 1MDB Lawsuits

Cover image via M'kiniAfter the US DOJ filed lawsuits seeking to seize assets tied to funds stolen from 1MDB, several politicians from the ruling BN have voiced their support for PM Najib, who wasn't named in the lawsuits
While [Deputy IGP Noor Rashid Ibrahim](https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/349172) and [IGP Khalid Abu Bakar](https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/349375) have decided to remain tight-lipped about the latest 1MDB drama unfolding in the US, this despite the Malaysian police doing their own investigation on the 1MDB, several others like Attorney-General Apandi have voiced their support to Najib.

Salleh, while writing the above in a blog post, also added that history has shown that the US can be hasty in its decisions or actions.
Meanwhile, [speaking to reporters](http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/349332) after an event at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) today, 21 July, Salleh, when asked whether the action by the US DOJ had tarnished Malaysia's name, said, "As far as we are concerned in Malaysia, we have been handling (the 1MDB issue) quite well. We have allowed people to have their views."

Apandi, who earlier this year had cleared Najib of any criminal misconduct in two corruption cases linked to 1MDB, also said that Najib was neither named nor alleged to have committed any wrongdoing in the US DOJ civil lawsuits on 1MDB.
[Malaysiakini](https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/349383) quoted the Malaysian A-G as saying that, "The attorney-general expressed his strong concerns at the insinuations and allegations that have been made against the prime minister of alleged criminal wrongdoing in relation to the civil action."
