On 5 August, two Malaysian women were arrested for attempting to smuggle a man out of Singapore by hiding him in their Myvi
The car was was driven by a 28-year-old woman, accompanied by a 33-year-old passenger.

While conducting checks, officers discovered a man hiding in the car boot
"The illegal passenger was not in possession of any travel document. He was later established to be a 31-year-old Bangladeshi national", Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) said in a press release.

The ICA has since stressed that illegal attempts to enter or depart Singapore are taken very seriously
The penalty for illegal departure is a fine of up to SGD1,000 (about RM3,033), a jail term of up to six months, or both.
Offenders who convey prohibited immigrants out of Singapore will also face a jail term of two to five years, and a minimum of three strokes of the cane.
