There is a certain kind of grit required to navigate Malaysian highways on two wheels, especially with two children in tow

Nadhira, 40, recently captured the Internet's heart by sharing her 140km journey.

Riding a Honda Vario 125, she travelled from Hulu Langat, Selangor, to her hometown in Teluk Intan, Perak.

According to Harian Metro, her two sons, aged 7 and 12, joined her on the ride.

The trip was a practical solution to a common holiday problem: The soaring cost of travel

Nadhira explained that bus fares for three people could reach RM70 one way, excluding the cost of reaching her remote village.

"With a motorcycle, the total cost including food and drink is less than RM50," Nadhira said.

This was a massive saving compared with the RM150 to RM170 she would have spent on public transport.

The journey usually takes between four and seven hours, depending on how often they stop at Rest and Service (R&R) areas

These breaks are essential for keeping her children comfortable and happy.

During the long ride, she makes sure to keep her sons engaged by chatting with them frequently to avoid stress and fatigue.

However, the open road brings challenges that a bus passenger never has to face.

Nadhira has dealt with unpredictable weather, often riding through heavy rain on the highway without any nearby shelter

She also recalled a distressing incident on the West Coast Expressway (WCE) last year when her motorcycle broke down.

"I was at a loss and cried by the roadside because I did not have much money," she shared.

Despite these hurdles, her priority remained seeing her parents during the Hari Raya festivities.

She advised other parents to prioritise safety and mental strength when planning similar long-distance trips.
