Motorcyclist Dies After Colliding With Horse On His Way To Work

Police are investigating the case for reckless or dangerous driving.

A 59-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with a horse that had suddenly crossed the road at Jalan Sempang Bukit Kuda, Merlimau, on Tuesday morning, 28 October

According to Sinar Harian, the victim, Rajak Ismail, was on his way to work at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Jasin, where he worked as a cleaner.

Jasin District Police Acting Chief, Deputy Superintendent Nor Azlinda Nordin said initial investigations showed that Rajak was riding his Yamaha Y16ZR from Serkam towards Semujuk when the collision occurred at around 7.10am.

"Upon reaching the location, the victim's motorcycle is believed to have hit the animal, which was crossing from the left side of the road," she told Sinar Harian.

She added that the impact caused serious injuries, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene

His body was later sent to the Jasin Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem before being released to his family.

There were no CCTV cameras in the area, but the horse's owner has been identified and interviewed to assist with the investigation.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
