A mother's simple act of love in China has touched millions online after her son shared how she hand-sewed a Nike logo onto his schoolbag
In a viral Douyin post, user @黑大帅哥 recalled his high school days, when he longed for a branded backpack like his classmates.
"When I was in school, my classmates all carried Nike and other brand-name backpacks, so I went home and begged my mother to buy me one," he said, according to Jimu News.
However, at the time, he said his family's business was struggling, so his mother told him they couldn't afford one. Instead, during the school holidays, she carefully hand-stitched a Nike Swoosh onto his plain red backpack.
"When I saw it, I thought it was so beautiful and I was happy all night," he said.
But when he brought it to school, his classmates quickly pointed out that Nike didn't make such a bag.
Embarrassed, the then-14-year-old stopped using it after a week and hid it away.

Now 23 years old, he says his perspective has completely changed.
"At the time, I was young and thought the backpack was embarrassing. But now, I think it's the most priceless treasure in the world," he wrote, sharing close-up photos that revealed his mother's careful stitching and attention to detail on the bag.
The post, uploaded on 9 September, came just before his birthday on the 11th and his mother's on the 12th.
He explained that he has been apart from his mother for four years, as she has been working in Ningbo, Zhejiang province since the COVID-19 pandemic, while he continues his studies in their hometown of Hanzhong, Shaanxi province.
"Mum, your son is starting to earn money now and can help share the family burden. I hope you can come home soon. Love you, Mum. See you online tomorrow!" he added.

The heartfelt post has since garnered over 9 million likes, with many netizens praising his mother's love and sacrifice
Several netizens also uploaded photos showing stitching done by their loved ones on their clothing.
"My girlfriend sewed this for me, I can't bear to wear it," said a netizen.

"When my little Blackie passed away, my girlfriend also stitched this for me," said another.

Even Nike's official account responded to the viral post, saying, "Great stitching! A mother's love is often the courage we need. We have prepared a gift for your mother. Please message us."
