77 Malaysians From The KL Tabligh Assembly Have Now Tested Positive For COVID-19
This comes after 41 new cases were recorded today, 14 March.
A total of 41 new COVID-19 cases have just been reported in Malaysia
Most of the new cases are linked to the cluster cases to a four-day ijtimak tabligh gathering that was held at Jamek Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur between 27 February to 1 March.
The religious gathering was attended by over 14,500 Malaysians.
With the new cases recorded today, 14 March, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases of Malaysians from the tabligh gathering has now reached 77. Previously, the number was 40.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the 41 new cases are now Malaysia's highest one-day spike on record
"Of the 41, 37 cases are patient under investigation (PUI), and four are close contact cases. As of 14 March, 1,321 samples from influenza-like-illnesses and severe acute respiratory infections have been tested, and three samples tested positive," he said, as reported by New Straits Times.
Previously, the highest one-day spike on record in Malaysia was of 39 cases that were recorded on Friday.
