Monash University, one of Australia's top institutions, is partnering with TRX City to build a new RM2.8 billion campus in the heart of Kuala Lumpur
In a statement today, 28 October, the university said its new city campus will accommodate up to 22,500 students and 1,700 staff.
The campus is expected to contribute RM19.1 billion to the local economy over the next decade through direct investments and broader economic benefits in infrastructure, innovation, workforce development, education, and community growth.
Scheduled to open in 2032, it will feature state-of-the-art research centres in energy transition, health, AI, and data science.
It will be located in Kuala Lumpur's Financial District, alongside world-class financial institutions, to accelerate collaboration, innovation and strengthen employment-integrated education.
The new campus will be officially announced today by Monash University's vice-chancellor and president, Professor Sharon Pickering, alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Malaysia's Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

The current Bandar Sunway campus will continue to operate. It began with an inaugural cohort of 417 students in 1998 and has since grown to accommodate more than 11,000 students from over 80 countries.
According to the statement, Monash University Malaysia is now the university's largest and most successful international campus.
TRX City CEO Datuk Sr Azmar Talib said that as TRX is an international financial centre delivering strong economic and social value, its partnership with Monash University Malaysia will help drive the nation's long-term growth.
"Our partnership with Monash University strengthens Malaysia's competitiveness and connectivity with ASEAN through talent development. Monash University Malaysia's city campus will enrich TRX's diverse community and nurture the next generation of global thinkers," he said.
Monash University, ranked among the world's top 40, currently has a strong ASEAN network of nearly 60,000 alumni.
