MMDA: Use Drones To Monitor Manila’s Flood And Traffic
Does it sound like a good idea?

Flood and traffic sometimes go hand in hand. During the rainy season, due to clogged esteros and canals, traffic (which is already bad) becomes worse.
That's why the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is considering the idea of tapping a private group to operate drones for the purpose of monitoring road traffic and obstructions on waterways and flooding, Interaksyon reports.
The drones will help monitor the flood in the air so that the MMDA will have eyes on the situations
Initially, the drones would help MMDA to map out Metro Manila's estero system and identify structures and other obstructions that could not be reached just yet by clearing teams.
This is a better and more cost-effective solution than CCTVs or helicopters
According to MMDA General Manager Tim Orbos, it's the most cost-effective solution instead of buying thousands of CCTV cameras or hiring helicopters.
He also noted that the agency will not buy drones but instead hire suppliers and professionals to operate them.
They are referring to a camera drone. It's a remote controlled camera that may hover in the air.
These are the drones that most people are familiar with. Camera drones are usually ready-to-fly quadcopters that have stabilized cameras for shooting video and stills. Drones with cameras have a massive amount of uses in different industries, such as video production, search and rescue, agriculture and more.
Many people know drones for capturing parties and adventure but they have a lot of uses including agriculture, search and rescue
