2016 will mark the third automated elections in the Philippines.
Last 13 February 2016, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) held a mock elections to test the new Vote-Counting Machines (VCM)
**Unfortunately, the COMELEC experienced some glitches and loopholes that could affect the accuracy of the vote counting.**
"Present enhancements on the vote-counting machines (VCMs) are still sorely lacking in basic safeguards to ensure accurate vote recording and counting," said Rick Bahague, an information technology expert from Kontra Daya, according to [Rappler] (http://www.rappler.com/nation/politics/elections/2016/122425-kontra-daya-says-vote-counting-machines-unreliable).
**Even COMELEC chairman Andres Bautista considered the possibility of postponing the elections.**
"I already said yesterday that this will affect our timeline. And this morning that is what we want to know if we already need to move for the postponement of the elections. If it needs to be postponed, then let us postpone it," said Bautista in a radio interview, according to [Manila Bulletin] (http://www.mb.com.ph/comelec-considers-possibility-of-postponing-may-polls/#rSUCyyrLlWLwqC6t.99).

Binay then took the opportunity to ask the president that as the father of the Filipinos, Aquino is responsible to assure clean elections
"Mr. President, *ako po ay nakikiusap sa inyo hindi bilang pangalawang pangulo, kundi bilang isang karaniwang Pilipino. Sana po* Ms. President, *ay gamitin ninyo ang inyong kapangyarihan bilang ama ng ating bansa upang tiyakin na malinis at mapayapa ang halalan sa darating na Lunes.*
Mr. President, *sana naman sa natitira niyong araw sa Malacanang ay gugugulin niyo ito sa pagbibigay ng pamana sa taumbayan. Isang pamana na kikilalanin at ipagmamalaki ng ating bansa at ng bawat Pilipino. At ito ang pamana nang pagtataguyod sa demokrasya at pagkilala sa tunay na tinig ng taumbayan sa darating na halalan.* Mr. President, *ito ang naging pamana ni Pangulong* Cory Aquino. *Sana naman* Mr. President *ay ito rin ang inyong maging pamana sa taumbayan.*"
