Fatima Bosch of Mexico has been crowned Miss Universe 2025, despite getting embroiled in a dispute with the pageant's director

According to CNN, the 25-year-old contestant was crowned by last year's titleholder, Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark, during the 74th Miss Universe finale in Nonthaburi, Thailand today, 21 November.

Thailand's Praveenar Singh came first runner-up, while Venezuela's Stephany Abasali, the Philippines' Ahtisa Manalo, and Ivory Coast's Olivia Yace completed the top five.

During the finals, contestants were asked a series of questions, including how they would use the Miss Universe platform to empower young girls

"Believe in the power of your authenticity. Believe in yourself.

"Your dreams matter, your heart matters. Never let anyone make you doubt your worth," Bosch answered.

Bosch had earlier made headlines after Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly berated her during a livestreamed pre-pageant briefing

She left the session after Nawat reprimanded contestants for not promoting Thailand, the host country, on their social media pages.

In the livestream, he singled out Bosch, accusing her of ignoring his instructions and allegedly calling her a "dumbhead" for listening to her national director instead.

When Bosch objected, Nawat called security and threatened to disqualify anyone who supported her.

She walked out of the room, with several contestants following in solidarity.
