The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has issued a continuous heavy rain warning, which will remain in effect until 25 November
In a statement yesterday evening, 23 November, the department said a low-pressure system had formed in the Malacca Strait and is expected to bring persistent heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas to the northern and western states of Peninsular Malaysia from Sunday to Tuesday.
"The system, currently located at coordinates 5.4°N 98.3°E near the northern waters off Peninsular Malaysia, is almost stationary and is expected to move westward towards the Bay of Bengal after 36 hours," it said.
It added that the likelihood of the system intensifying into a weak tropical cyclone is low.

Floodwaters rose to waist level in Kota Bharu, Kelantan on 22 November.
