The Melaka Road Transport Department (JPJ) has confiscated a high-end Mercedes-Benz sedan, valued at approximately RM700,000, after discovering the vehicle was being operated without valid documentation
Authorities intercepted the luxury vehicle during the recently concluded Ops HRA 2026, a targeted enforcement operation designed to heighten road safety and ensure regulatory compliance across the state.

During a routine inspection conducted by enforcement officers, it was revealed that the vehicle had committed several serious traffic violations
The car's Motor Vehicle License (LKM) — more commonly referred to locally as road tax — had expired. The vehicle also lacked the mandatory insurance coverage required for legal road use in Malaysia.
Subsequent investigations into the vehicle's history confirmed that it was registered under the name of an individual who serves as a company director.
Following the discovery of these breaches, Melaka JPJ immediately seized the sedan
The vehicle was subsequently towed to the Melaka JPJ Detention Depot, where it remains held for further administrative and legal action.
Under the Road Transport Act 1987, operating a motor vehicle without valid insurance and a current LKM are deemed significant offences that can lead to hefty fines, vehicle forfeiture, or legal prosecution.
The department has officially stated that enforcement operations will continue to be intensified periodically to ensure that all motorists adhere to established road laws
Members of the public are strongly advised to verify the status of their vehicle's LKM and insurance policies before embarking on any journey.
The department emphasised that strict enforcement action will be taken against any owner found in defiance of these regulations, regardless of the vehicle's market value or the owner's status.
Motorists are encouraged to utilise digital platforms, such as the MyJPJ mobile application, to monitor their license and road tax expiration dates conveniently.
