Malaysia has welcomed two very special visitors — a new pair of giant pandas from China!

Meet Chen Xing (male) and Xiao Yue (female), the adorable duo who touched down safely at KLIA at 8.30pm yesterday, 18 November.
Their arrival marks another chapter in the long-standing friendship between Malaysia and China, under the continued panda conservation partnership between both countries.

The pandas are here thanks to a new agreement signed in April 2025 during the Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Malaysia
Under the deal, Malaysia will host the young panda pair from 2025 to 2035 as part of the ongoing International Cooperation Project on Giant Panda Conservation.
The same programme that once brought Xing Xing and Liang Liang to Malaysia — and saw them welcome cubs here — is now ushering in a brand-new panda era with Chen Xing and Xiao Yue.
Chen Xing was born on 19 August 2020, while Xiao Yue was born on 29 September 2020.

Upon landing, the duo were transported straight to the Giant Panda Conservation Centre at Zoo Negara, which has been newly upgraded to give them the comfiest, safest environment possible
But don't expect to see them just yet!
Both pandas will undergo a mandatory one-month quarantine, supervised closely by experienced veterinarians and keepers to make sure they're healthy, stress-free, and ready to meet the public.

Once they've completed quarantine and settled in, they'll be officially introduced to visitors at Zoo Negara
No public viewing date has been announced yet, but based on previous panda arrivals, you can probably expect updates within the next month or two.
