Man Named 'Brilliant' Jailed For Flashing SIA Stewardess On Singapore-Bound Flight

An Indonesian man has been sentenced to three weeks' jail for exposing himself to a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight attendant during a flight from China to Singapore
According to The Straits Times, Brilliant Angjaya, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exposure for the incident, which took place on 23 January.
Angjaya, who was a business class passenger, had also used his phone to record the air stewardess's reaction to his indecent act.

During sentencing, Singapore District Judge Paul Quan described Angjaya's behaviour as "inexplicable" and "inexcusable"
The court heard that during the flight, Angjaya had consumed an in-flight meal and two glasses of champagne before falling asleep.
Upon waking up, he went to the lavatory before returning to his seat, where he set up his phone, unzipped his trousers, and covered himself with a blanket.
When a stewardess approached to serve his meal, he removed the blanket, exposing himself. The flight attendant immediately walked away and reported the incident to her supervisor.
When confronted, Angjaya initially denied recording the act but eventually handed over his phone upon request. He was arrested upon landing at Changi Airport.
Deputy public prosecutor Ng Jun Kai had pressed for a longer sentence of four to six weeks' jail
Ng highlighted aggravating factors such as Angjaya's intoxication, as well as the location of the offence being on an aircraft, and the fact that it was committed against a public transport worker.
The prosecutor also noted that Angjaya's initial denial showed a lack of genuine remorse.
"Had he been truly remorseful, he would not have lied to the victim's supervisor when asked if he was recording. He would have come clean from the onset," said Ng.
In defence, Angjaya's lawyer, Navin Thevar, argued that his client was in a "troubled state" at the time and drank champagne in an attempt to fall asleep.
Thevar also noted that Angjaya eventually surrendered his phone, apologised to the crew, and wrote a letter of apology to the victim, which was read in court.
