A 32-year-old bride-to-be was left devastated when her fiancé died in his sleep just hours before their wedding

Nor Izzati said she and Mohamad Faiz Md Rozi, 34, were scheduled to be married at the Kepala Batas Religious Office at 10am on 19 December.

According to Harian Metro, the tragedy struck at 2am that morning when Nor Izzati received a phone call from Mohamad Faiz's sister.

The bride was informed that her fiancé had died at his family home in Sungai Dua, Butterworth, only a day after celebrating his 34th birthday

"What happened feels like a dream. He had promised to marry me, but Allah SWT loves him more," she said.

Mohamad Faiz, a former electrical technician, had no known health complications but previously mentioned having headaches.

Nor Izzati shared that they last spoke on WhatsApp at 11pm the night before the wedding.

She had reminded him to get some rest, and he told her that he had finished ironing his wedding clothes.

"I teased him not to look too serious on our wedding day so the photos would turn out nice," she recalled.

Three hours after that conversation, Mohamad Faiz's mother discovered him unconscious at 1.30am.

By the time Nor Izzati arrived at his house, his body was already in an ambulance being taken to Hospital Seberang Jaya.

The couple first met in 2019 and had reconnected during Ramadan earlier this year after a four-year break

The couple last saw each other on 5 December to finalise their wedding preparations.

During that meeting, Mohamad Faiz agreed to cut his long hair short at Nor Izzati's request, as he was excited about the ceremony.

Nor Izzati expressed her sadness at not being able to serve him lontong, his favourite dish, on what would have been their big day.

Despite the heartbreak, she said she accepts the tragedy as fate.

"He was a good man. Many people prayed for him after news of his death spread on social media," she added.

The couple's wedding reception had originally been planned for 25 December.
