A man has claimed that his family has endured months of harassment from a former lover who resurfaced nearly three decades after their breakup
At a press conference held by Teratai assemblyperson Yew Jia Haur yesterday, 10 September, 48-year-old Cheah Wei Ming (transliteration) said he briefly dated the woman in 1996 before breaking up the following year.
The two have had no contact since their breakup, and Cheah is now married with four children, reported China Press.
However, Cheah said the woman began harassing his family in March this year, when she suddenly demanded RM1,500, claiming he had borrowed the money for a motorcycle licence.
He stressed that he never owed her any money, as he had already obtained his licence before they met.
Despite this, the woman allegedly continued demanding payment, reportedly increasing the debt to RM4,000.

According to Cheah, she not only accused him of owing her money but also splashed paint and faeces at his parents' home multiple times
After one incident, she allegedly shared a video of the act online with the caption, "Just went to deliver breakfast."
In recent months, his family has endured at least five vandalism attacks.
"On 25 July, she attacked twice on the same day," Cheah said.
The harassment has also affected neighbours after paint was mistakenly splashed on their homes, sparking further complaints.
China Press reported that CCTV footage showed the woman carrying out the acts in casual clothing without fear of being recognised.
During the press conference, Cheah also claimed that the woman posted lengthy confession posts online, admitting she could not let go of him, expressing jealousy towards his wife, and even writing a song about her feelings.

Cheah claimed that the police did not arrest the woman despite lodging 14 reports over the past six months
"Until now, there has been no arrest. The police even suggested that we settle the matter with money, and I am very dissatisfied with this," Cheah said.
Speaking to China Press, the woman denied committing the vandalism, insisting that she only wanted to recover RM4,000.
She also accused Cheah of abusing her during their brief relationship.
Despite the ongoing dispute, Cheah said his only wish is for the harassment to stop so that his family can live peacefully again.
