Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly raping his daughter for the past 10 years

According to Buletin TV3, the man was arrested at his home in Melaka on Tuesday, 5 August.

The abuse came to light after the victim, now an 18-year-old working as a gold dealer, told her mother that her father had been sexually assaulting her since she was 8, with the most recent incident occurring earlier this month.

"Other children also told their mother that the suspect had also tried to do the same thing to them," a source familiar with the case was quoted as saying.

After her daughter confided in her, the mother fled to Kuala Lumpur with all her children with help from her brother at around 12.30am on Sunday, 3 August.

The mother had previously suspected her husband of incest, but lacked evidence

She has since lodged a police report and arranged for her daughter to undergo a medical examination at a hospital, reported Harian Metro.

"Following the complaint, the police conducted further investigations before arresting the suspect, who works as a mechanic," said the source.

Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar confirmed that his department received the police report and has arrested the suspect.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest.

If found guilty, the suspect may face up to 30 years' imprisonment and whipping.
