Many Malaysians have long defended the use of government-subsidised RON95 petrol from being used by Singaporeans, especially since foreign-registered vehicles are legally prohibited from refilling with it
On Thursday, 8 June, Twitter user @MALAYSIAVIRALLL posted a photo of a Singaporean-registered vehicle owner filling up their car with RON95.
According to the user, the incident happened at PETRONAS Batu 3, Shah Alam.
"The people of the first world country are stealing government-subsidised petrol made for Malaysians," they wrote in their tweet.
User @ShafiqNoah24 then quoted the tweet with a picture of another Singaporean who was also seen pumping RON95 into his grey Audi Q3.
At the time of writing, both of their tweets went viral, garnering over 9,900 retweets and 4,500 retweets, respectively.

Netizens were enraged by Singaporeans using RON95 and expressed their disapproval in the comments section
"Third-class mentality, still," said another.

Another suggested that local petrol stations should check each car's licence plate when the owner wants to pay for gas.
