After spending five years climbing the ranks in the finance industry, a woman has shared an unfiltered account of how she almost lost herself while trying to get ahead in a male-dominated field
In a confession post published by local radio station XUAN on Facebook, the anonymous woman opened up about navigating the harsh realities of her industry — from office politics and gender bias to the blurred lines between professionalism and manipulation.
"I used to believe that as long as I was professional, hardworking, and sincere, I'd be able to go far.
"But over time, I realised that being attractive and capable as a woman could be a powerful combination that can open many doors quickly," she said.
She admitted that once she became aware of this, she started using her looks to her advantage by becoming more accommodating and overly friendly with clients in hopes of gaining more opportunities.
"I began acting more pleasing and approachable, hoping it would earn me more opportunities. Slowly, I started to lose myself," she confessed.

"In the course of work, I behaved too 'friendly' with some clients, always walking the fine line between professionalism and flirtation.
"Sometimes, I wouldn't reject their advances, and a few times, I nearly crossed the line," she wrote.
The woman struggled with guilt and self-doubt, telling herself it was just a "mutual exchange of needs", while knowing deep down that she was being selfish, unprincipled, and unethical.
"I knew it wasn't the right path, but my ambition had already overridden my moral compass.
"I didn't want to throw away the advantages I'd built over the years, and I didn't want to let my prime years pass by living an ordinary life," she said.
She ended the post by advising women to work hard without compromising their boundaries to avoid living with regret.
She also said she hopes to regain emotional balance and stop giving parts of herself away for fleeting opportunities.
