A Malaysian citizen, Datchinamurthy Kataiah, 39, is set to be executed in Singapore today, 25 September, for trafficking 44.96 grams of heroin in 2011
According to Berita Harian, the execution is expected to proceed despite last-minute appeals and public protests, including a demonstration at Hong Lim Park, Singapore.
Singaporean activist and former lawyer M Ravi confirmed the news on Facebook on Monday, 22 September, where he shared the official notice of execution along with photographs of Datchinamurthy.

Court records show that Datchinamurthy was sentenced to death in 2015 following his 2011 arrest
His execution was first slated for 2022 but was postponed after Singapore's High Court granted him a stay while he pursued a civil suit against the government over his treatment in prison.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's Human Rights Commission (SUHAKAM) has urged Putrajaya to exhaust every diplomatic and legal channel available to protect citizens facing capital punishment overseas.
The commission also called for regional and international human rights mechanisms to be mobilised, stressing that Malaysia must continue to push for the gradual abolition of the death penalty at both regional and global levels.
