Singapore authorities have seized more than 18,400 e-vaporisers and 1,400 related components in their largest land checkpoint vape bust since tougher penalties took effect on 1 September

In a Facebook post, the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said the contraband products were discovered on Monday, 15 September, in a Malaysia-registered lorry that had been declared as transporting "components for motorised external roll-up blinds".

The vehicle was flagged by ICA's Integrated Targeting Centre through pre-arrival risk assessment and directed for enhanced checks at the Tuas Checkpoint.

Upon inspection, officers uncovered the concealed e-vaporisers and parts.

A Malaysian man was arrested, and both the suspect and the seized items have been referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigation, ICA said

The seizure comes amid heightened checks at Singapore's air, land, and sea checkpoints under a government-wide effort to curb vaping.

Singapore authorities have expressed growing concern over the rise of vaping, including cases involving drug-laced products.
