‘Ma’ Rosa’ Showing In PH Theaters On July; Cast To Attend 21st French Film Festival

Filipinos and film buffs have been waiting for the Palme d'Or nominated film to be shown in the Philippine theaters since Jaclyn Jose won the Best Actress award for it!

Jose was the first ever Filipino to win the award at the Cannes Film Festival. In the film, she played the mother who sells drugs to survive the hard life in the Philippines.
"I am so surprised. I just went to have the red-carpet walk with my daughter [Andi Eigenmann] (http://says.com/ph/showbiz/andi-eigenman-cast-of-m-rosa-slayed-the-cannes-film-fest) – my real-life daughter and my daughter in the movie also. Mendoza said before the awarding ceremony that the film was based on his personal experience four years ago. "It happened – that's why it has to be told," said Mendoza, who won the Best Director for his film *Kinatay* at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival.

The film tackles about the issue of [small-scale drug selling] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illegal_drug_trade_in_the_Philippines) which Mendoza admits is alarming since its still happening in the Philippines

The film and cast received an overwhelming three-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival last 20 May!
The [Embassy of France] (http://www.ambafrance-ph.org/-English-) invited the full cast of Ma Rosa to be the guests of honor as they open this year's French Film Festival on 8 June in Manila!
A red carpet welcome fête will await Jaclyn Jose, 2016 Cannes Film Festival Best Actress winner for her role in Director Brillante Mendoza's *Ma' Rosa*.
