Lorry Driver Fined RM6,500 After Reckless Driving That Caused Motorcyclist’s Death

He also has to serve an eight-month jail term if he fails to settle the fine.

A 30-year-old supervisor was fined RM6,500 by the Batu Pahat Magistrates' Court for careless driving that caused the death of a motorcyclist in 2024

According to Harian Metro, Magistrate Arun Noval Dass handed down the sentence to the accused, Gue Kok Xin, 30, on 14 January 2026 after considering submissions from both parties.

The court also ruled that the father of one would serve an eight-month jail term if he failed to pay the fine.

According to the charge, Gue was driving a lorry along Jalan Simpang Parit Lubok, Semerah, at 8.15am on 3 March 2024.

He was charged under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving without due care and attention

Those convicted under this section face a fine of up to RM10,000 and a potential prison sentence of up to 12 months.

Police investigations found that the lorry Gue was driving pulled out from a junction when it was struck by the motorcyclist

The victim was thrown onto the road shoulder and died at the scene from severe head and body injuries.

Gue was represented by lawyer Tan Song Yan from the National Legal Aid Foundation, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Sharifah Natasha Syed Ahmad prosecuted.
