The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has issued a formal reminder to taxpayers about the upcoming e-Filing period, emphasising the importance of timely submissions to prevent legal repercussions

According to Nur Azureen Ismail of the LHDN Corporate Services Department, the filing window for the 2025 Year of Assessment opens on Sunday, 1 March.

Officials are encouraging the public to begin gathering necessary financial records and supporting documents immediately to ensure a seamless declaration process.

Nur Azureen stressed that timely filing and payment are critical for maintaining compliance

LHDN warned that individuals who delay their submissions or payments may face significant penalties and rigorous enforcement actions.

She also cautioned taxpayers against the falsification of documents or any fraudulent activities.

She told Bernama that if an audit reveals discrepancies or intentional deceit, the financial consequences are severe, and the government may impose travel restrictions or initiate legal proceedings against defaulters.

Several significant enhancements to tax reliefs have been introduced for the 2025 Year of Assessment, aimed at providing better support for families and encouraging healthy lifestyles

Tax relief for a child with disabilities has been increased from RM6,000 to RM8,000. Similarly, the sports lifestyle relief has been doubled to RM1,000, now covering equipment, gym fees, and competitions for the taxpayer, their spouse, children, and parents.

Medical treatment relief has also been increased to a RM8,000 limit. It now includes biological grandparents alongside parents, covering dental care, vaccinations, full check-ups, and caregiver costs for those residing in Malaysia.

To ensure accuracy in these claims, the LHDN advises taxpayers to consult Public Ruling 7/2025, which is available on their official website.
