A 53-year-old tuition centre teacher pleaded guilty to seven charges of raping his biological daughter at the Sessions Court in Lahad Datu on Wednesday, 6 May
The accused entered the plea before Judge Ahmad Faizadh Yahaya after the charges were read separately, as reported by the New Straits Times.
The court heard that the man raped his eldest daughter, now 25, at various hotels in the district beginning in December 2025. The most recent incidents reportedly occurred on 18 and 19 March 2026. The accused, who was unrepresented during the proceedings, faces charges under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code.
This section carries a penalty of eight to 30 years in prison and a minimum of 10 strokes of the cane upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Haikal Hazwan Md Yatin represented the prosecution, and the court has fixed 23 June 2026 for further mention to await the victim's medical report before sentencing.
This is not the first time the accused has faced such charges
On 8 April 2026, the man was sentenced by the Lahad Datu Sessions Court to a total of 165 years in prison after pleading guilty to 11 counts of raping his two daughters, aged 22 and 25.
In that instance, Judge Suhailla Selag imposed a sentence of 15 years' imprisonment for each charge, to be served consecutively, along with 10 strokes of the cane for each offence.
Investigations into the family's history suggest a long-term pattern of abuse
It is understood that both victims were allegedly subjected to sexual abuse starting from the ages of 15 and 18.
The daughters were reportedly kept in a state of fear, as the accused frequently threatened them with physical violence if they attempted to refuse his advances.
