Enforcement officers from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) have intercepted a major stockpile of subsidised cooking oil during an operation in Putrajaya
The raid, conducted on Monday, 9 March, resulted in the seizure of 78 boxes containing 1kg polybag packets, valued at more than RM5,000.
The operation, part of the ministry's ongoing 'Ops Gasak' initiative, targeted a double-storey residential home suspected of being used as an illegal storage facility.
Ministry Director-General Datuk Azman Adam said the raid was conducted after receiving public complaints about the accumulation of controlled goods at the property.
Upon arrival, officers found the premises unfenced and seemingly unoccupied
However, a thorough inspection of the surrounding area led them to a vehicle parked within the compound. Inside, they discovered 1,326kg of subsidised cooking oil.
Each of the 78 confiscated boxes contained 17 1kg packets, bringing the estimated total value of the seizure to RM5,569.20.
During the raid, a local man arrived at the scene and identified himself as the son of the property's owner
He is currently assisting authorities with the investigation.
The case is being probed under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, as well as Regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974, for the possession of controlled goods with the intent to trade without a valid licence.
The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities involving controlled goods through KPDN's official WhatsApp channel at 019-848 8000 or the e-Aduan portal.
