Major traffic lockdowns are expected across the city centre next week as Malaysia hosts the 47th ASEAN Summit, which will see the arrival of several world leaders, including US President Donald Trump
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said police will be on high alert from 23 to 28 October, with around 16,000 officers deployed from across the country, particularly from states neighbouring to Kuala Lumpur, to assist with traffic and security operations.
"The Kuala Lumpur City Centre will be on total lockdown, and the police will not compromise on safety," Mohamad Hasan told reporters, adding that officers will begin deployment on 23 October.

The summit, scheduled to begin on 26 October, will also be attended by the presidents of Brazil and South Africa, among other world leaders who will join as Sectoral Dialogue Partners of ASEAN
Cyprus and Finland are also expected to formalise their positions as dialogue partners.
In addition to Trump, confirmed attendees include Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, and Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected but not yet confirmed.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, and Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah are also slated to attend.
Other regional leaders who will be in Kuala Lumpur include Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, Myanmar junta chief Min Aung Hlaing, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Laotian Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, and Timor-Leste's José Alexandre Gusmão.

Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur Control & Command Centre (KLCCC) has released a list of major roads and highways that will be closed in stages from 26 to 28 October
Authorities said the closures will be carried out periodically, typically lasting 30 to 45 minutes each time to allow motorcade convoys to pass.
The "Golden Triangle" area around KLCC is expected to face the heaviest traffic disruptions. Police have advised the public to avoid these routes and use public transport, including MRT, LRT, Monorail, and buses, during the summit period.
