The family of a 70-year-old man assaulted in a Cheras road rage incident says they plan to pursue further legal action, despite the offender being jailed for four months

The Shah Alam High Court on Wednesday, 25 February, sentenced 52-year-old businessman Saiful Adli Yusof to jail, overturning the RM5,500 fine earlier imposed by the Kajang Magistrate's Court.

In the incident, captured on video showing Saiful kicking and punching the victim, Liew Khoon Foo sustained severe injuries, including a bruised eye and six stitches to his tongue.

His daughter, Cindy Liew, said her father's condition is stable, though he still has swelling in one eye and has been advised to attend a follow-up medical appointment next month.

The family is now consulting their lawyer on the next steps, including the possibility of seeking compensation

The family said they were appalled to see the accused show no remorse, offer no apology, and make no effort to make amends.

"Just sending him to prison isn't enough, and we will be seeking further legal consultations after today."

Cindy added that her father has agreed to pursue further action, with the family prepared to support him in holding the offender accountable.

She also shared that a member of the public had come forward to offer assistance.

The individual, who requested anonymity and is not a lawyer, is helping the family find legal representation and offering financial support for the case.

Saiful had earlier pleaded guilty to assaulting and threatening the victim and was fined RM5,500

The case drew widespread public attention, with Liew telling the court in his victim statement that he is traumatised and now fears leaving his home or driving.
