The National Registration Department (JPN) is offering free replacement of personal documents to flood victims whose identification papers were lost or damaged in the disaster

In a statement issued last week, JPN said the waiver covers documents such as MyKad, birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, citizenship certificates, and other official documents issued by the department.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the initiative aims to ease the burden on flood victims as they sort out their official documentation.

"In any disaster, I urge those affected to prioritise their safety and that of their families. The Home Affairs Ministry and relevant agencies will help simplify the process of replacing personal documents for Malaysians dealing with challenges such as the ongoing severe floods," he said.

To further assist the public, JPN will be deploying vehicles to affected areas to provide mobile services once safe access routes are available

This is to ensure assistance can be delivered directly to those in need without adding to their existing burdens.
