The Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) has taken action against thousands of drivers as part of its 'Op Perang Lebih Muatan-Kenderaan Berat' (War on Overloading For Heavy Vehicles)

Selangor JPJ director Azrin Borhan said a total of 50,839 vehicles were inspected during the operation, which ran from 14 October to 10 November.

Among the offenders, 1,926 were found driving without the required Vocational Driving Licence (GDL) or Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence.

Another 1,745 were found to have no driving licence at all, while 1,867 did not possess a valid Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM, or road tax).

Other serious violations included 679 vehicles without insurance coverage, 747 overloading offences, and 20 cases where the load exceeded the permitted limit by 50%.

Azrin highlighted a specific incident on Monday, 10 November, in which officers seized a 'low loader' lorry transporting a rolled steel coil

The driver was found to be operating the vehicle without a valid GDL or Competent Driving Licence (CDL).

Azrin confirmed that an investigation has been opened for a violation of operator licence conditions under Section 57 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010. An application will also be made to the court to have the vehicle forfeited under Section 80 of the same Act.

Azrin said Selangor JPJ will continue its enforcement efforts to ensure every driver, particularly those operating heavy vehicles, holds a valid and competent licence

He reminded all commercial vehicle operators to be more responsible, ensuring that every heavy vehicle is well-maintained and complies with all licensing conditions and road regulations.

"Selangor JPJ will continue strengthening similar operations from time to time to ensure the safety of all road users," he added.
