The prince also said that he does not support or side with any political party.

And on Friday, 21 August, while officiating the Kota Tinggi UMNO annual general meeting in Felda Lok Heng Timur, the DPM once again made headlines when he said the Johor ruler, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, believes that only UMNO can unite the Malays
However, it seems, Zahid was either merely trying to win brownie points from Malays or simply being delusional when he said so.
Because, as Zahid himself admitted, the Sultan *actually* did NOT say so.
It was Zahid, who after an audience with Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar yesterday, simply believed that the ruler is counting on UMNO alone to unite the Malays.
But today, 22 August, Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has put Zahid's delusions to rest as he spoke out against attempts to use his father, the state's ruler, for personal gains.
The Crown Prince, who is currently serving as an officer of the Indian Army, also said that he does not support any political party.

Writing on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page, Tunku Ismail said he only supports true leaders who "serve the people with honour, transparency and integrity"
"Of late, many are seen to be trying to get close and be friends with His Majesty, the sultan of Johor, which leads to all kinds of speculations and perceptions.
Don't forget, I am the heir to the throne of Johor, and my voice will be the last one heard after everything reaches His Majesty," he said.
"My loyalty lies with my father, my sultan. My priority will always be the sovereignty of my state and the welfare of my people.
Do not attempt to give counsel to the Sultan for your personal interests. No matter what happens, blood will always be thicker than water," he added.
Tunku Ismail said when he counsels the Sultan, it is sincere on his part as he has no personal interest, adding that his love for his father, his Sultan, is "unshakeable and none can hope to destroy"
"I am not trying to point fingers at anybody or trying to give anybody a hard time.
I am merely reaffirming my stand behind the sultan and people of Johor. May Johor always remain Johor. Allah save the sultan," he added.
