Johor Cooking Gas Explosion Victim Dies After 4-Day Battle In ICU
According to a friend of the victim, the cooking gas is believed to have leaked from the kitchen.

A man who sustained severe burns in a cooking gas explosion in Muar, Johor, last Thursday, 18 December, has died after spending four days in the intensive care unit at Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital
According to the New Straits Times, Fauzisham Darwis, 51, was pronounced dead at 12.15pm today, 22 December, due to critical injuries, including burns covering up to 60% of his body.
The explosion reportedly occurred around 8pm last Thursday at the victim's home in Taman Pagoh Jaya
At the time of the incident, he was home alone as his wife had gone out to buy some items nearby. Fauzisham, who worked as a cleaner at Bandar Universiti Pagoh, is believed to have been asleep after returning from work.
According to a friend of the victim, cooking gas is believed to have leaked from the kitchen and filled the house. The victim reportedly woke up and attempted to light a cigarette with a lighter.
"Suddenly, a strong explosion occurred, damaging parts of the house, including the glass windows. The house was left in disarray, with the ceiling and water tank in the two-storey home also damaged," Hanafi Taib, 51, told Harian Metro.
Fauzisham was found lying outside the house with severe burns to his face and body. He was rushed to hospital by ambulance, while members of the public extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived.

The deceased will be laid to rest at the Kampung Terus Panchor Muslim cemetery.
