Just a few weeks ago, Perodua president and CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid disclosed some exclusive information about the upcoming sedan

For one, it was said that the sedan will be codenamed D63D.

**According to reports, Aminar did not give a definite answer on when the car will make its debut but he confirmed that Perodua is targeting a five-star NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) safety rating with the sedan.**

Malaysian automotive site [Paultan.org](http://paultan.org/2015/05/21/perodua-d63d-sedan-approved-out-as-soon-as-2016/), reported that the sedan has been approved and is now in the prototype stage. It was also mentioned that Perodua has begun evaluating the car's engine, platform and transmission.

The talk of Perodua launching its very own sedan coincides with national car company Proton's plans to release a string of new models, including the launch of the long-awaited 2016 Proton Perdana today

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak officiated the launch of Proton's fourth-generation Perdana at Putrajaya this morning.

**"The launch of the new Proton Perdana is expected to be a turning point for Proton," Najib was quoted as saying by [Bernama](https://twitter.com/bernamadotcom/status/742535742845423616).**

The national carmaker sold just slightly over 100,000 units in 2015.

Proton has collected 900 orders for the Perdana ever since the sedan's order books opened in February. They are expecting to sell about 3,000 units by the end of this year.

Talking about cars, you'll surely relate to this list if your car is your "baby":
