The SPF was alerted around 10.05am on 9 June. Investigations revealed that on 8 June, the suspect had allegedly taken the items from a display shelf and left without paying.

Although officers from the Airport Police Division identified the suspect through the CCTV footage, he had already left Singapore by then.

On 13 June, the SPF had a second opportunity to apprehend the Irishman when he reappeared at Changi Airport while in transit

He was promptly arrested, leading to the discovery of another alleged theft.

Before his arrest, the man had allegedly taken another bottle of perfume worth SGD167 (RM554), from a different branch of the same store in Terminal 1.
