Influencer and entrepreneur Muhamad Faiz Basirun is facing backlash for selling doughnuts at RM10 each at a Ramadan bazaar in Sungai Petani, Kedah
In a video posted on Wednesday, 25 February, netizens criticised Faiz, 24, for the price of the doughnut, which was topped with a slice of cheese and drizzled with caramel sauce.
To melt the cheese, Faiz merely put it in the microwave.
Several commenters said the ingredients appeared simple and did not justify the RM10 price tag.
"Big Apple, Dunkin' Donuts, and Tim Hortons' [doughnuts] are even cheaper," wrote a Facebook user, while another added, "Overpriced bro. RM5-6 should be fair."

In response, Faiz apologised but stood by the RM10 price
He explained that he sold the doughnuts to support a former vendor who had a stall next to his. She is now a staff member known as Ika.
Faiz said Ika previously ran a stall called Terlevko Donut, which faced several challenges, including financial difficulties and the loss of her TikTok account due to a ban, ultimately forcing her to close the business.
"So, I'm helping carry on and continue the business, even though I've been criticised for it. I'm sorry.
"I just want to say that we've been selling these doughnuts since 2024, but I don't understand why people are only criticising it now. I'm very sorry. To those who support us, thank you very much," he said.
Despite his explanation, netizens argued his reasoning did not justify the price.
Several TikTok users accused him of deflecting attention to Ika instead of taking responsibility as the owner of the food stall.
