This apology came after a viral video of Imelda was leaked on the internet where she said that Miss Ecuador, the winner, has fake books, fake nose and fake chin. She also adds that the winner should be "natural".

She told CNN that she feels very offended towards the person who took her video and posted it online saying "What is that? Hindi makabayan 'yon (That's not patriotic)."

This did not go well for Imelda, following the controversy, she gave up the crown and quit Miss Philippines Earth

"They voluntarily resigned. She can't handle it anymore." – Lorraine Schuck, Vice President of Miss Earth

It was not a first-time blunder for Miss Philippines Earth Imelda Schweighart when a video of her surfaced asking Miss Earth Austria if Hitler was from her country

One the video, Miss Austria was shocked at the question and said "Okay, that's a bad question because we normally don't talk about Hitler, but yes he is."

Imelda also compared the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte to Adolf Hitler on a Facebook live video saying that he was "doing Hitler stuff in the Philippines".

The statement was tagged as racist and insensitive and was taken down from her Facebook page.

She also explained and apologized for the Hitler remark saying that she just "made a soft joke about it out of excitement"

She was also very upset when her gown was worn by Miss Ecuador when she was crowned, even though she did not make it to the Top 15

She said on the CNN interview that she "had nothing to wear," no one was taking care of her nor "carrying her bags".

She even posted her wearing the gown on her Facebook page.

After Imelda's resignation, Miss Philippines Earth first runner-up Kiara Giel Gregorio will fulfill all of Schweighart's remaining obligations
