When a Threads user realised his wallet was missing, he didn't expect what came next: a surprisingly wholesome discovery triggered by two mysterious RM1 transactions

Threads user @johan.thehutt thought he had simply misplaced his wallet at home and didn't worry much for nearly two weeks.

It wasn't until he started actively searching that the missing wallet became a real concern, but even then, it was nowhere to be found.

Then came the strange notifications.

Two RM1 transactions at a 7-Eleven outlet in Seri Kembangan appeared on his banking app.

The odd part?

Johan said he was nowhere near the store.

At first, it seemed like a potential case of fraud

But the tiny amounts didn't add up. If someone had stolen the card, why spend just RM1 twice?

Johan suspected something else; maybe the store staff were trying to get his attention in an unusual way. He went to the 7-Eleven outlet to find out.

That's when he discovered what had actually happened.

Staff found his wallet earlier and kept it safe for over two weeks. With no way to contact him and no phone number on record, they improvised by running a tiny debit transaction so he would receive an alert and trace it back to the store.

It worked.

"These lads have been holding onto my wallet for over two weeks. Shoutout to these lads for their honesty and integrity!" he posted.

Johan left with his wallet intact and a new appreciation for a group of strangers who chose honesty over convenience

He later shared the story on Threads, giving a shoutout to the staff for their integrity.

The post struck a chord. Within two days, it drew 24,000 likes, 230 comments, 3,100 reposts, and 747 shares, with many users praising the simple but thoughtful act.
