Across Malaysia, thousands of communities are receiving direct funding to kickstart income-generating projects

Under Belanjawan 2025, the Malaysian government introduced Program Sejahtera Komuniti MADANI (SejaTi MADANI) to channel funding directly to local communities, empowering them to launch sustainable, income-generating projects on their own terms.

The programme is open to grassroots groups such as kampung committees (JKKK), women's associations, youth collectives, surau or mosque committees, and other registered local bodies.

The initiative provides communities with RM50,000 to RM100,000 in funding to kickstart income projects.

As of July 2025, there have been 2,303 approved applications across five sectors under this programme

  • Sewing and handicrafts
  • Tourism and hospitality
  • Green activities and recycling
  • Herbs and health

In Kampung Kuala Pertang, Kelantan, a catfish farming project that began in early 2025 has already yielded multiple harvests. Within weeks, villagers sold 35kg of fish, earning RM1,000 in revenue, with local restaurants and school canteens showing growing demand.

Meanwhile in Kampung Menerong, Terengganu, a stingless bee (kelulut) honey project has enabled 35 locals to earn between RM1,000 and RM1,500 monthly through honey sales and related products like handmade soap and balm.
