Six vehicles were damaged after rocks fell from a hillside near an apartment complex in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail said the vehicles were damaged in two separate incidents at the Mutiara Court Apartments in Bukit Permai, reported FMT.

The first incident occurred at 8.15am yesterday, 3 November, followed by another at 8.50am in the apartment's parking area.

"An investigation at the scene found that rocks had fallen from a hillside onto the parking lot.

"The incident caused damage to six vehicles. Five were successfully removed, while one car was destroyed," Azam said, adding that no casualties were reported.

After the incident, residents expressed fear that another rockfall could occur

Speaking to Harian Metro, a resident who wished to be known as Wee said he and his neighbours no longer dared to park their vehicles near Block 3.

He said that before the incident, residents often would leave their vehicles in the parking lot.

However, residents now have to park their vehicles outside the apartment compound, which is further away and could result in traffic summonses.

"Now we have no choice but to park outside. But if we park by the roadside, we're worried about getting fined.

"It's dangerous in the area because rocks can fall at any time," Wee said.

According to him, the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has cleared out the rocks and installed safety barriers in risky areas.

"I hope slope stabilisation work can be carried out immediately to prevent a recurrence and ensure residents no longer have to live in fear," he said.
