Earlier today, 15 October, a parent of a student at a Bandar Utama school paid her respects to the schoolgirl who was fatally stabbed, placing a bouquet of flowers at the school gate

"I needed to do this to have some closure," the woman told the New Straits Times, noting that her child attends the school.

The incident, which occurred yesterday, 14 October at around 9.30am, involved a 16-year-old student who was stabbed to death

A 14-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the murder.

Preliminary checks showed the victim sustained multiple stab wounds to her body, and police have since seized two bladed weapons believed to have been used in the crime.

Police took the suspect to the Petaling Jaya Court Complex earlier today, and he has been remanded for seven days as the investigation continues

In response, Education Ministry director-general Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad said the ministry is intensifying efforts to strengthen safety measures in schools.
