Hannah Yeoh, reflecting on her new role in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), highlighted her commitment to transparent and people-centred governance in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan

In a Facebook post yesterday, 17 December, the Segambut Member of Parliament (MP) said her previous experience working under Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail shaped her understanding of leadership rooted in public welfare, accountability, and discipline in public service.

As an MP based in Kuala Lumpur, Hannah said she is closely familiar with the challenges faced by residents in the Federal Territories and is committed to engaging stakeholders, particularly MPs from Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan, whom she said represent voices that must be heard in policymaking.

She outlined her key priorities as ensuring transparent governance, improving basic government services, pursuing sustainable development, protecting recreational areas, and reducing flood incidents, issues she said directly affect the daily lives of residents.

Yeoh also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, its staff, sports bodies, and youth organisations for their support during her tenure since 2022

She highlighted several initiatives implemented under her leadership, including the introduction of EPF and PERKESO contributions for podium athletes, the Road To Gold (RTG) programme, strengthened grassroots sports development, free community sports facilities, the Safe Sports Code, tax relief of up to RM1,000 to encourage active lifestyles, expanded sports funding, and the introduction of inclusive events such as the Masters Games.

On youth policy, she pointed to amendments to the Youth Organisations and Youth Development Act, which will lower the youth age limit to below 30 from 1 January 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen young leadership and ensure an orderly generational transition.

Yeoh ended her message by encouraging Malaysian athletes competing at the SEA Games Thailand 2025 in Bangkok to stay focused and give their best for the country, describing wearing the national jersey as a great honour.
