Staff at an esports hotel in Changchun, China, were left in a state of shock after entering a room that a single guest had occupied for two consecutive years

The guest, reportedly an online gaming addict, checked out on 12 December, leaving behind a scene of absolute squalor.

Surveillance footage and photos from the scene reveal mountains of takeaway containers, food wrappers, and empty bottles piled nearly 1m high in some areas.

The room, designed for high-performance gaming with specialised computers and chairs, was rendered almost unrecognisable

Both the gaming chairs and the desk were nearly completely buried under the sea of rubbish.

The situation in the bathroom was even more dire; used toilet paper was piled high around the toilet, the sink overflowed with waste, and a thick layer of grime covered the floors, suggesting it had not been cleaned during the stay.

According to hotel officials, the guest allegedly hardly ever left his room during the two years.

In fact, many staff members had never even seen his face, as he remained sheltered inside to focus on his gaming sessions.

The sheer volume of thousands of pieces of litter suggests that the occupant lived entirely off delivery services, with the waste simply being discarded on the floor rather than being disposed of properly.

Following the guest's departure, the extent of the damage became clear

It took professional cleaning teams three days of intensive work to clear the rubbish and disinfect the space. Despite their efforts, the hotel management has stated that the room cannot be reused in its current state and will require a full renovation.

Adding to the frustration, the guest left behind an unpaid debt of approximately RM1,700 for his final 10 days of stay.

Surprisingly, the hotel said it has not yet reported the matter to the police or taken legal action, despite the high cost of cleanup and repairs.
