Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government has agreed to waive National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loan repayments for all first-class honours bachelor's degree graduates from low- and middle-income families

This move is expected to benefit about 6,000 borrowers each year, with a yearly allocation of RM90 million.

This is in addition to the government providing free education to 5,800 students from underprivileged families.

Anwar also announced that the government will impose an overseas travel ban on borrowers who are capable of repaying their loans while working abroad, but have failed to do so.
