Malaysia has announced fuel price hikes of up to 80 sen following a surge in global oil prices
In a statement on Wednesday, 11 March, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said the new retail fuel prices will take effect from 12 to 18 March.
RON97 and unsubsidised RON95 petrol prices will increase by 60 sen per litre, while diesel prices in Peninsular Malaysia will rise by 80 sen per litre.
Despite the increase, the government said it will continue shielding Malaysians from the full impact of rising global oil prices through targeted subsidies under the BUDI MADANI initiative.

The subsidised RON95 price under the BUDI95 programme will remain at RM1.99 per litre, while subsidised diesel prices in Sabah and Sarawak will stay at RM2.15 per litre
Subsidised diesel prices for the public land transport and goods transport sectors in Peninsular Malaysia will also remain unchanged at RM1.88 and RM2.15 per litre, respectively.
To further ease the burden, interim cash assistance under the BUDI Diesel Individu and BUDI Diesel Agri-Komoditi programmes will be increased from RM200 to RM300 for March 2026. The additional RM100 payment will be distributed starting 17 March.

To sum it all up, here are the retail fuel prices for 12 to 18 March 2026:
RON97: RM3.85 per litre (up 60 sen)
RON95 (unsubsidised): RM3.27 per litre (up 60 sen)
RON95 (subsidised): RM1.99 per litre (unchanged)
Diesel (Peninsular Malaysia): RM3.92 per litre (up 80 sen)
Diesel (Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan): RM2.15 per litre (unchanged)

The government said it will continue to protect Malaysians through targeted subsidies and additional cash aid amid ongoing uncertainty in global oil markets.
