It is believed that the mother of the girl went downstairs to pick two of her other children, leaving the four-year-old sleeping alone
"The victim's mother had gone down to pick up two of her other children. The girl was left alone at home that time without supervision. It is believed that the girl woke up and realised that her mother was not at home," Othman Nanyan said.
The girl is believed to have hauled a plastic chair to the balcony and climbed on it, in search of her mother from the 14th floor.
Unfortunately, she lost her balance and fell over the balcony.
The victim's mother is now being investigated under Section 33 of the Child Act 2001 for the offence of leaving her daughter without reasonable supervision
Othman Nanyan said the incident was due to the negligence of the mother, adding that investigations are still in progress.
