20-Year-Old Foreigner Arrested Over 2 Sexual Harassment Cases On LRT & MRT

The man was arrested for alleged sexual harassment and for taking upskirt photos on the LRT and MRT rail lines.

A 20-year-old Chinese national was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and harassing passengers on two separate rail lines

Brickfields police chief Hoo Chang Hook said the incidents occurred on the Putrajaya MRT and Kelana Jaya LRT systems.

According to Free Malaysia Today, one report involved a 22-year-old beauty therapist at the Kuchai Lama MRT station on 9 April.

The victim claimed she was hugged from behind without consent and followed by the suspect towards the toilet.

A second incident was reported by railway operator Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail).

The suspect will remain in police custody until 24 April.

Hoo confirmed the unemployed suspect was apprehended on the night of 9 April.

He has been remanded for two weeks to assist with investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to outrage a person's modesty.

The man is also being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Immigration Act for failing to produce valid travel documents during his arrest.
