A 34-year-old woman tragically drowned while swimming with her husband in a hotel pool in Terengganu yesterday

According to Harian Metro, the heartbreaking incident occurred around 5.30pm, when Nurhazwani Abd Halim was believed to have drowned within minutes after her husband momentarily looked away.

Her father, Datuk Abd Halim Jusoh, shared that he and his wife were accompanying their grandchild in the nearby children's pool when the tragedy unfolded.

"It all happened so fast. When my son-in-law turned around, he saw that Nurhazwani had already drowned," said the former Permaisuri assemblyman.

Hotel staff and Nurhazwani's husband immediately performed CPR, but efforts to save her life were unsuccessful

"They did everything they could to save her, but I had to accept that Allah loves her more," Abd Halim said.

The late Nurhazwani, a lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pahang, was described by her father as a loving and thoughtful daughter who always made time for her family.

"Even though she lived in Pahang and we were in Bangi, she would always call to check in and ask how we were doing.

"Before coming to this hotel, we had just held a family day to spend time together with our extended family," he added.

Her body was released from Hospital Kemaman after a post-mortem and laid to rest at the Sungai Tangkas Muslim Cemetery in Kajang.

Among those who came to offer their condolences were former Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, former Jabi assemblyman Mohd Iskandar Jaafar, and Kijal assemblyman Datuk Razali Idris.

According to Sinar Harian, Kemaman district police chief DSP Wan Muhamad Wan Ja'afar said preliminary investigations found no criminal element, and that the case has been classified as sudden death.
