A man was arrested in Subang Jaya after a video of him wearing a police vest and helmet went viral

According to Harian Metro, the suspect was seen wearing unauthorised equipment featuring the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) logo in the footage, which reportedly began circulating on TikTok.

Subang Jaya police received information regarding the clip on 22 April, though the incident is believed to have occurred on 17 April.

Subang Jaya deputy police chief Mohd Fairus Jaafar confirmed that the authorities acted swiftly once the video surfaced.

The suspect, in his 30s, was detained in the USJ area of Subang Jaya to assist with investigations

Mohd Fairus stated that the man is being investigated under Section 89 of the Police Act 1967 for the unauthorised use of police equipment.

The case also falls under Section 504 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Mohd Fairus advised the public to refrain from speculating about the case while the investigation is ongoing.
