According to Harian Metro, she was caught during a joint undercover operation led by the Practices Section of the Dental Health Division, Selangor State Health Department, along with the Health Ministry and police.
Initial checks with the Companies Commission revealed that the woman's business was only registered for body piercing and eyelash extension services, reported the Malay daily.
The raid was carried out following a public tip-off that unlicensed dental services were being offered at the location. During the raid, she was found in the middle of performing a dental procedure on a female client.
Selangor Dental Health Division officer Dr Muhamad Syafiq Muhamad Isa said the woman was using dental tools and materials to mislead the public into believing she was qualified to perform dental work
She failed to provide proof of registration with the Malaysian Dental Council and did not possess a valid Annual Practicing Certificate, reported the New Straits Times.
The ministry's officers found various dental equipment and materials believed to be used for veneer procedures at the premises, which was also found to be unregistered as a private dental clinic.
"As a result, the suspect was found to have violated Section 63(1)(d) of the Dental Act 2018, and if convicted, she can be penalised under Section 63(2) of the same Act," Syafiq said.
All equipment and materials used in the illegal services have been confiscated.
