Andi Abdul Ghani Kadir, 41, the animation director behind local hit franchise Ejen Ali, was found dead on Wednesday, 24 September, after reportedly drowning in a river in Kinabatangan, Sabah

His body was discovered at 11.25am along the riverbank, a day after he was reported missing.

According to the New Straits Times, Andi had fallen into the river on Tuesday, 23 September, after a car accident at Kampung Batu Putih.

He and his 33-year-old wife were travelling from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu when they lost control of the car.

The vehicle, driven by his wife, is believed to have skidded off the road. Andi is said to have exited the vehicle and fallen into the river.

Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station chief Hairi Otuh said they received a distress call at 5.03pm on Tuesday

Rescuers were dispatched, but the search for Andi was suspended at 6.52pm when night fell.

"It resumed the following morning, and the victim was later found by the riverside near where he was last seen," Hairi told reporters on Wednesday.

Tragically, Andi had only just married on 16 September, just over a week before the incident.
